We are working on planing our train layout for Kidsfest 2010 Hartford. I need to know what members plan to bring and space requirements. If you have something for the layout post the what and how big in this thread so we can come up with a plan for filling space.

As space is at a premium we will most likely be limited to 20x20 ft. I think we will still have an awesome layout but we will be tight on space. I will do my best to fit everything and I don't think we will have any problems. However there is a small chance any late comers may be out of luck so the sooner I know you are coming the better.

Thank You

Container port: 9x6 32x32 baseplates. I assume you still have the profile for it somewhere. I will bring my subway as well, if it is wanted. As in the past, if you need to change the way the port is accessed, it is probably possible, although changing the rail access would be a bit of a pain.

I already have the port figured into the plan and the current rail access will work fine. The subway is also in already. Very Happy

Whatever of my buildings don't get used in the Allentown display can be used at Kidsfest. I might try to make one new 32x32 city building done in time as well, but if there's not enough room then don't worry about it.

I have ready
-Grand Emporium (stock) for train layout [32x32]
-Weasley Burrow (modified to Cafe Corner standard) for train layout [32x32]

If we just want floors from my G.E., that's fine too.

I know we want to use your City Hall at the Museum. I would like to use a few of your other buildings for the museum as well but I'm not sure which ones yet. Any that do not get used there I want to include in the Kidsfest layout.

If you would like to do another 32x32 building and have the time it would certainly be welcome at Kidsfest. I think we can possibly fit it in.

Sweet! Brian has built a Grand Emporium center section that can go in between two stock Grand Emporiums. So we will ned at least two stock emporiums but could use four if available.

Ok so I have Tony Sties Cartography Shop and the following for Brian.

Urban Courtyard 48x48
Ice Cream Shop 48x48
Grand Emporium stock 32x32
Grand Emporium Center 32x32 (for between 2 stock corners) could use upt 4 stock Emporiums
Skate Park 48x40
and Misc cars, trucks, and construction / road work equipment

With Dave's Emporium we now have two stock sets to adjoin Brian's center section. With two more we can make a full block.

I can provide a Green Grocer/Fire Brigade or center sections of them. Just so you know, seeing as you included my Grand Emporium in the Allentown layout plan, I gave it to Joel today, along with my Police Station.

Joel asked me to make a new plaza with an ice-skating rink to be used in front of the Art Deco City Hall on the layout. Here's what I came up with. The sidewalks are elevated to our standard, while the rink and plaza are recessed.

I'm running low on tan tiles. I used some white ones as snow, but someone may have to harvest more tiles off my original plaza.

I have all 3 + an inverted (mirror) copy of the Green Grocer if you want those. I also can bring extra floors to any of the cafe corner style buildings if you want those too. I also have all the stock creator houses that we have been using. Just let me know if you DON'T need any of the above so I don't have to try packing them. The wind farm is getting built tomorrow night in my basement to make sure the repairs I did on the power supply back in October are good.

We are covered on the Green Grocer, Fire Brigade and Cafe Corner now you can bring extra floors if you would like. And bring the creator houses if you don't mind. We may have some spaces we can fit them in.

Thanks

At BrickFair, I noticed we didn't have many cars on the layout. I can bring along some cars and trucks, but none are custom - just existing Lego sets.

I also have the new Creator Log Cabin I can bring along as well.

That would be awesome. Any thing we can use to dress up and bring more detail to the layout is welcome.

The WamalTC at the B&O Railroad Museum was indeed well done. I should know, I was there.

The layout was a very interesting Y shape This was one of their more organized displays and it shows. There was a lot of cool ideas on display though I still prefer the style of layout that PennLUG is moving toward.

The blog writer, Doug (Hatter23) is a big fan of Googie Architecture. His Tide Motel, Bob's Diner, Vincent Hills Shopping Center and a few other structures are all great examples and are usualy a big hit with visitors. Googie started around the twilight of the steam railroading era and Doug's work has me thinking of making my own Googie style building some time. It would be an interesting juxtaposition seeing steam (considered by many to be obsolete even in the 50's) and Googie (representing a vision of tomorrow) side by side. Yet another idea for me to add to my growing (and already far too long) list.

I met Doug at BrickFair and got to see his hotel and shopping center. Googie is pretty awesome (It can trace it's roots back to my personal favorite, Art Deco). Wildwood, NJ is a Googie paradise. I think I'd like to give that style a try sometime too. I saw a neat Googie car dealership out in Tacoma, WA once. Might be fun to model it.
