2012 convention possibilities: AFOL and other
I wasn't at the February 4 meeting so I don't know which conventions were discussed, but here's a list with many of the local(ish) possibilities for 2012, not including any dedicated train shows, museum exhibits, or the four KidsFest locations that are way outside our radius (Denver, Austin, etc.) [*]. If you have more, just reply. Of special note: Zenkaikon is the local anime convention, and as such it would be a new experience with us, and I received a specific gesture-of-interest from its team.
We (PennLUG and DelVaLUG) have sufficient members now, with a span of non-LEGO interests, that we can send splinter groups with custom-picked content even to non-LEGO-specific events. (And we've added a few members since the triple-header in June 2011.) I.e., if a member's interests are LEGO+XYZ, then exhibiting at an XYZ event should be doubly fulfilling.
* Fri 3/10-12, Brickworld Indy - IN: Indianapolis
* Fri 3/23-25, LEGO KidsFest Cincinatti - OH
* Fri 5/11-12, Zenkaikon - PA: Oaks, Greater Philadelphia Expo Center
* Thu 5/17-20, BrickMagic - NC: Raleigh
* Fri 6/1-3, Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con - PA: Pennsylvania Convention Center
* Wed 6/13-17, Brickworld Chicago
* Sat 8/4-5, BrickFair - VA: Dulles Expo Center
* Sat 9/22-23, Brickworld Fort Wayne - IN: Grand Wayne Center
* November? TBD, Philcon - Location TBD
[*] Or video game shows. I think it was Wizard World 2009 where an organizer of VGXPO dropped by to express interest in our appearance. Whereas TLG having a booth to advertise "LEGO Universe" makes sense, our own presence would be more of a stretch, IMHO. But DelVaLUG did conduct its first appearances at the NBC10 Consumer/Tech Expo.

Re: 2012 convention possibilities: AFOL and other
I see that BrickMagic is no longer on Mother's Day weekend. That just killed it for me, since they moved it later it overlaps Spring Gulch Folk Fest, so I can not go to BrickMagic :
Kidsfest in Ohio is a Looooooooong drive. Takes me 10 hours, but then I drive like a SNAIL.
I could do Zenkaikon if I was able to wait to set up till Friday night. Not willing to take off from work for something so small.
