Newbie from Harrisburg
Hi all,
I'm new here, so I wanted to create a post and introduce myself. Name's Dan, and I'm from Harrisburg. I'm in my early 30s, and have become an avid LEGO builder again after several dormant years. Got started when I was a kid -- Castle and Pirate series were my favorites -- then unfortunately "grew out of" the bricks for a while once I hit high school and college. Jumped back in with a Creator 3-in-1 early last year and now my girlfriend and I are hooked again.
Mainly build sets at this point, but am hoping to start building out / organizing my piece collection and getting into more MOCs. Would love to get to a couple of the CONs at some point, but obviously the pandemic's made that a bit difficult right now. Looking forward to posting here on the forum and, eventually, hopefully joining the group! (You probably won't see me on Facebook, as I've basically eliminated social media from my life.)
Hope everyone's doing well and staying safe!

Re: Newbie from Harrisburg
Hi Dan,
Welcome to PennLUG's forum. I will apologize on behalf of us all here for not responding sooner. There are probably at least a couple reasons for that. With all of the Covid Craziness going on, and concentrating on ourselves at home, apparently we aren't paying as much attention to club things like the forum.
Also, I think the focus for club communication and interaction has shifted away from the forum, bu I myself have not really kept up with it so I don't know where to direct you...
Hopefully, we'll be able to have an actual meeting again soon. It would be great to see you there.
As for "just building sets at this point" you aren't alone in that. We have at least several people who started out with that but have blossomed into building their own stuff. One in particular that comes to my mind is a woman who mostly collects Star Wars figures but was inspired to build a MOC called "Pizza Day on the Death Star": A scene in a Death Star cafeteria with numerous Storm Troopers eating pizza but giving lots of extra room for Boba Fett (who apparently is a vegan, judging by his diet).
I look forward to meeting you and your girlfriend in person at an upcoming meeting.
