Brickfair Thread Empty Brickfair Thread

Post  Brickadier General Wed May 19, 2010 10:52 pm

I figured I'd give this event its own thread, keeping things broad.

Also, I wanted to let you all know that I registered for the show and paid. This does not mean I will necessarily be coming. Economically speaking, it's not the greatest idea for me to travel to the event (yes, I know registration costs money). However, if I will be working the BrickForge booth, it would be likely I could make it. But it is also cutting things really close, considering my departure date will be very close to the end of BrickFair.

Still, considering some of my MOCs will be in the layout, I felt I could claim a stake as a registered AFOL. I will make MOC cards for my MOCs, and one of you fellow PennLUGers could pick 'em up and put 'em out.

I will keep you posted.

Matt

I would definitely like to make it to BrickFair since I couldn't make Brickmagic or BrickWorld this year. I will need a ride from somebody though. Can anyone help?

No promises yet rob, but with the way brick fair is shapping up we will only need a trailer mostly for tables since most members will be able to get there early enough to bring there own stuff. So there should be room in the jeep for another passenger.

I'll be the post apoc coordinator there, so let me know if any of you are planning any builds in that theme.

Joel, would I be able to get a ride with you again?

At this point Carter, I don't see a problem with that. Being a 3hr drive, and the fact that most of us are bringing our own stuff, we should have room. Will double check with Cale as we get closer

My parents are interested in going to Brickfair, wish they would've spoken up earlier; and as we're contemplating carpooling I was wondering if anyone booked any additional rooms at the holiday inn. It would be for my Dad, Mom, and Cousin who lives with them.

They'd be looking for rooms on Friday & Saturday. Thursday night we're staying in DC.

Thanks!

I reserved several rooms for our group and I think we'll have have an extra room for your folks.

I need an count of exactly who is going to BrickFair and staying in our rooms and perhaps even who wants to room with whom. How many people do we want per room?

KC and Trev will be going to BrickFair. We would like as many people per room as possible to cut down on cost. If needed, there is 1 room reserved in my name, but I don't want to keep it if Trev and I are the only ones in it.

I plan on attending BriackFair as well. Mike - I will need a room for Friday night and Saturday night.

Cale, not sure if this is the correct place... I will be bringing the renovated Ice Cream Shop and Urban courtyard (2) 48x48 baseplates for the town layout. As well as some additional cars, trucks etc... I have 2nd floors for the Grand Emporium and Green Grocer if needed to increase the layout.

Let me know

I expect to be going (I went in 2008 but not 2009). It would either be this or the NASFIC in Raleigh. (The National Science Fiction Convention is held whenever the Worldcon is outside North America; this year it's in Australia.)

Instead of the official hotel (the Holiday Inn), I might stay at one of the nearby Marriott properties (and earn some points). Unless BrickFair makes it clear they're having trouble filling their room block. (Assuming their contract specifies such; that's how conventions contracts with hotels are structured, and there's a steep "attrition charge" if the block isn't filled.)

I expect I'll be driving myself (five-seat sedan, reasonable trunk) -- I have to make fairly frequent stops, because my legs cramp. Given my location, there are only a few members for whom carpooling would make sense.

Okay, I changed my mind, and I won't be attending BrickFair. I've decided to be fiscally responsible and let my "vacation" bank account regenerate before I go anywhere. (I.e., pay by credit card, but pay off the card all at once.) Well, plenty of other opportunities for public exhibits later this year.

Sorry to hear you won't be able to make it. Are you heading to Brian's house for the meeting on Saturday?

Brickfair Thread Empty Register your BrickFir MOCS NOW .... RIGHT NOW

Post  Kreativ Snail Fri Jul 30, 2010 9:50 am

Hello all

TODAY is when Todd is printing the MOC cards for BrickFair, and I notice that Peter, Matt, Joel, Chris , Carter, Trevor, and myself have stuff entered... but I don't see stuff from the other PennLUG folks that are going. Maybe I missed it, because there are 1000+ MOCs on the page, but if you were putting it off, you need to do it ASAP. ... otherwise you won't have a MOC card, and without a MOC card, chances are not good for awards. .. and official cards look so much nicer than a piece of paper with a hand written description on it. Yes, Cale has them. I packed them in a box with his stuff. I did tell Cale that when we unloaded the trailer. My guess is that he will bring them to the next meeting for those who attended BrickFair.
