Hotel rooms for BrickMagic (NC - May)
I just received a notice from BrickMagic regarding hotels now being available. The room rate this year is $15 less than last year: $84 per room per night (plus taxes/fees).
I will reserve 2 rooms initially but can change that as needed. Please respond if you think you might go and if anyone will be joinning you. It would be better to to reserve extra rooms sooner rather than later and there is plenty of time to release room(s) if anyone changes their mind after requesting space in a room.
For those who didn't attend last year it was a very nice show. BrickMagic is run by Joe Meno and his publishers for Brick Journal, and is in Raleigh, NC. The Raleigh Hilton is a nice upsale hotel and this is a great rate. We should be sure to thank Joe and his team for getting this deal.
As other conventions go, BrickMagic is on the small size, which makes for a more "cozy" feeling. There were less than 100 attendees last year but we filled the ballroom adequately. It is not at all difficult to meet everyone ans see everything. However, it is during Mother's Day weekend so many people have prior family commitments.
As I wasn't at the January meeting I don't know what was covered. It is certainly not too soon to begin planning for BrickMagic. But let's keep this thread for hotel related responses and start a new thread for BrickMagic planning.
I look forward to another great year of conventions and other events for PennLUG. I am excited to see how our club continues to grow and improve. It is this fantastic group of people I have the pleasure to be a part of which makes it all possible. I will see you all in March.

I might be able to make it. I'll at least need a ride from someone from Philly.
Re: Hotel rooms for BrickMagic (NC - May)
Wendy, Emma and I will be coming to BrickMagic, and we will reserve our own room.
Thanks for setting this up for others.

Re: Hotel rooms for BrickMagic (NC - May)
Hi all,
I incorrectly posted this info in a BrickFair thread. So I am reposting here where it belongs.
I am getting to be an old man. So my days of lodging en mass are over. I have booked a room at the Raleigh Hilton and will make the second double bed available at $125 total for four nights (May 5-8.) That is half a room at one third the rate.
The Hyatt next door does not prove to be the best rate this year. It did have free internet and breakfast. But the breakfast was not of high quality. The Hilton web page says we get high speed internet free. The BrickMagic site says it will be $5 per day for internet. So, who do we believe?
Anyway, let me know if anyone is interested. The first person to ask gets the deal.
