This has got to be more simple...I can't find a simple standard for how to attach curved track on a MILS and have it look nice. halp?

i did find this in railbricks: http://niltc.org/standards/track-specifications

but, I don't understand the scaling of the track vs baseplates in the picture, and it still doesn't answer attaching the curve to the plate.

This assumes track is attached to a standard 32x32 stud baseplate. The track will be inset from the edge by 4 studs. This works really well with the geometry of LEGO track allowing it to maintain the same distance from the edge the entire way around the layout, working seamlessly with switch geometry, and making the most efficient use of the space on the 32x32 baseplate by citing 2 tracks side by side with appropriate clearance for trains.

When attaching the track directly to a base plate the curves will just float on top of the base plate studs as there is no way to attach them. When you get into blasting like PennLUG's Track then you have more options for attaching the curves. There are certain spots where the studs on track and the underlying bed will line up. http://railbricks.com/index.php?cID=530 For PennLUG's ballasted curves we simply let our curve track float on a bed of tiles. The attachment to the secured straight at each end tend to keep the floating curves pretty well in place. We've had very few problems (if any) with the curves moving while running our trains.

Hope that helps.
