Re: 2013 Jan 12 - 13th Greenberg Train & Toy York PA
We have plexi-glass!
A couple of notes/ updates for those involved with this event:
1. When I priced out how much it might cost to build our own stantions, I was suprised, so I made a couple of calls and found that the plexi-glass was about the same cost, so that is the route that I chose. I purchased 15 pc of 14" x 40" x 1/8"thick. We will have enough to cover the entire Greenberg layout (using the plexi-glass we already have).
2. Wendy offered to "host" dinner saturday night at our house. (More low key, and we can save some money...) Baked Mac and Cheese and Ham bean soup and other assorted appetizers. And probably a dessert of some sort
3. We can offer 1 bed (Emma's - she can either sleep with us, or might be staying at my in-laws) and the sofa for overnight accomodations for those who might need them? Josh, KC, Nate? I thought Mark has friends in the area?
4. Cale, Nate and I will be at the Fair Grounds at noon on Friday to start setup, I think Sam you said you would be available?
Thanks
Brian

Greenberg Train Show York
I plan to be in York by 10:00. I have a book store on market street I want to hit. I hope to be to the Fairgrounds by 11:45 or 11:50 on Friday. How many people are comming to help at the show for Saturday. My wife & I will be available for all day on Saturday. I was planning on stopping by Maple Donut before comming down on Saturday.

Yes, Brian. I will be staying with friends in the area, so I am covered for sleeping space.
I will arrive in York around 1-2pm on Friday to help with setup. You'll have me all day. Saturday, I can probably help a bit in the morning, but I was hoping to spend the second half of the day with the above mentioned friends as it has been a long time since I have been out that way to see them. Sunday, you'll have me all day again for the show and break down.

Yay! Plexi! We could have probably cut some costs on the stanchions but why spend the time and money to build them when we could just go with the plexi which is what we want for the long term anyway.
Dinner Saturday sounds awesome! This is going to be an awesome show.

I think it will be Mark, Cale, Nate, Josh, KC, myself and you and Vicki helping on Saturday?

Mark will only be there for part of the day Saturday as he wan't to visit friends while in town and KC all not be coming as she's been invited to a Birthday party for a friend. Even so I think we will be pretty well covered for help. Hopefully we will not have a lot of set up Saturday morning to do. If everything goes well Friday it should mostly be tweaking and detailing.
Brian, Myself, and Nate will be there at Noon today to start setting up. Mark and Sam will be coming as well and we can stay until 7:30 this evening. Tomorrow we can get in at 7:30am to continue setting up. The show runs from 10am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday. Tear down will be from 4pm to 8pm Sunday.

Show Wrap Up
Wow! What a show. I can honestly say this was one of the most fun displays I've done in a while. I personally had a blast running trains all weekend. The big curves and Nate's new yard switcher made for some great running experiences. And while not surprising given that it was a train show it was great to have so many people interested in the trains. The layout itself was awesome. Easily one of the best we've done. All weekend we were getting compliments on how detailed and amazing every thing looked. The crowd was one of the best we've had. There was a steady flow of people all weekend and I don't think we had any major problems with unruly visitors. The people we're very engaging, asking lots of questions and showing a lot of interest. I think we even picked up a few new potential members.
And I can't thank enough every one who helped make this display a success. Every one put 100% in to this display and it showed. Thank you.
I've uploaded my photos from the show. You can find them here.
