Steamtown Railfest 2012
I just wanted to let you know Mark Brennan from Steamtown emailed me the other day and asked if we would be up for doing a train layout at Railfest again this year. It would be September 1 and 2, with setup on August 31. I just need to see if there's at least 2 or 3 more people interested in doing this so I can respond to him one way or another. I really hope we can do this event again, as I have enjoyed it quite a bit in the past, and I think the response has been very positive. There's no huge rush on this, but I would like to be able to give him an answer sometime soon.

Re: Steamtown Railfest 2012
The same reason the BrickMagic is no longer on Mother's Day, and now is on Spring Gulch weekend. A huge conspiracy.... started by MBlox.
Re: Steamtown Railfest 2012
Since this is Labor Day weekend again I can't participate. But what ever MOCs or resources you need from me are yours for the asking Nate. I really want to see PennLUG continue doing this show and building a relationship with a great museum such as this.

Re: Steamtown Railfest 2012
I might be able to visit, but we'll have our new LEGO Builder with us so I unfortunately cannot commit to helping. Next year he'll be one and maybe a different story
Re: Steamtown Railfest 2012
I'm not sure but I think the space where PennLUG has been the past two years may now be occupied by a new exhibit.

If so where might we be set up this year?

Re: Steamtown Railfest 2012
I haven't replied to Mark yet because I'd still like to hear from one more person before committing, but he indicated it would be in a different area this time. I will ask for more specifics when I talk to him.
Re: Steamtown Railfest 2012
Yep, we should be good now. I have replied to Mark with an affirmative and asked about the space. I'll let you guys know when I hear back.
Re: Steamtown Railfest 2012
Mark emailed me back today about the space. I think it's the third floor area overlooking the space we have used in the past. I think it's large enough for our needs, and it looks like we could design a layout that was only viewed along one or two sides to fit in there. It's not too far out of the way, and it seemed like people really sought us out at past shows, but it is a little on the dark side. Not sure what we could do about that. Let me know what you think, and I'll get back to Mark.
RailFest at SteamTown?
I haven't seen anything on the forum about RailFest at SteamTown in Scranton. It was mentioned briefly at the August meeting at KC's and it is listed on the web-site as one of our upcoming events.
Has anyone been working on this behind the scenes? If not, has anyone told the people at SteamTown *not* to expect us?

The main area of discussion was here https://pennlug.forumotion.com/t790-steamtown-railfest-2012
I know Mac @ DelvaLUG posted on their site they we're attending (least it looked that way by his post)
It appeared Nate (Shuppiluliumas) was working with Marc. We're listed on the "Events" So I assumed we were going which is why I've been posting stuff. I haven't been to a meeting recently or heard otherwise.

I know I've been out of touch for a while ... but I was wondering who is attending Railfest? Michelle, Juliana and I are going to try to stop by at some point this weekend.

Yes PennLUG will be there this weekend. Mike M. came by tonight to help pack up the trailer. He and Nate will be driving the trailer up tomorrow and meet up with Josh and Frances in Scranton to set up. I'm unable to attend due to other commitments. Since Josh, Nate and Mike M. were the only one who could commit to helping with this most of the planing has been off line between them. That's why you haven't seen any thing on the forum lately.

Re: Steamtown Railfest 2012
Sorry I haven't been more communicative about it. I've just finished up a move, and the last 3 weeks have been very busy.

No worries Nate. You guys seem to have everything under control. Have fun.

Re: Steamtown Railfest 2012
It's been posted and mentioned at PennLUG and DelVaLUG meetings since about May. 4 of us are attending; Nate, Josh, Francis, and myself. More are welcome of course.
Re: Steamtown Railfest 2012
I think we maybe stopping by on Sunday as a family event. (We; Myself, Kelley, Ryan, Mom mom C, Pop pop C)
Re: Steamtown Railfest 2012
The layout was awesome I'll try to upload my pics in the next couple of days. The only thing that wasn't so good was that Mac and the team had to break down early and there were more than few parents upset with us that the trains were not running.
I ran to take down the signs pointing them to the LEGO upstairs, but it was kind of sad. We did point them to our website to look for future events and stuff.
Great job to everyone! Thanks for letting me help break down the stuff sorry I couldn't stay for the full tear down.
