York Tower

York Tower Empty York Tower

The rail yard in our PennLUG club layouts is in need of a little sprucing up so I'm making that one of my goals for 2012. First up is a proper Pennsylvania RR style signal cabin.

My natural choice was the tower from my own home town of York, PA. This tower controlled the switches and signals where the York Secondary and Fredrick Secondary joined the PRR's Northern Central branch. The tower was taken out of service in 1973. The tower still stands but is looking quite a bit run down these days.

Next up will be a model of the PRR's locomotive coaling tower that once stood in York.

Do I spy Sand Green in that tower? Cale, if it were up to you, the whole PennLUG town would be made of oxidized copper LEGO.
lol!

It is sand green. The real tower used coper sheathing on the bay window and around the roof so I'm just replicating it here. I do like the color though but there are other colors out there to that I like too so you wont see the whole layout in sand green. Wink
