Re: Has anybody seen this possible new set??? 10219 Maersk cargo train
Sweet! :>>>:
This looks absolutely awesome. I hope it's available to the general public and not just Maersk employees. I'm going to have one either way but I so want multiples of this.
I'm so glad they did the Norfolk Southern SD40-2 instead of the lame Santa Fe GP60M. Hooray for eastern railroads finally getting some love from LEGO.
I think there is some Maersk cheese slopes in there. And there are some collectors who are going to be irate over the return of the constructions hats.

Thanks cale for being so awesome with the links
I had not known that maersk had any loco's
I did notice the SD-40 only has 2 drive axles in the lego model but thats to be expected
I am glad they went with the SD it looks spot on a big win for lego train guys I will be getting quite a few no matter what
it looks like double cheeses on the jockey truck bumper this is a set that will sell very very well
I just got 6 ships the other day and the jersey lego cannot get eneoph to sell so they are definetly going to go fast

Here's a direct link to the original image from Lego's website:

e: Oh well, looks like they finally took it down. I have it, but I don't feel like I should host it again if they're taking it down everywhere. Maybe at the meeting, then.

This could be my first train.

The real Norfolk Southern locomotive which this is almost certainly inspired by is an SD40-2. LEGO however doesn't like to do three axle trucks and probably wanted to keep the look consistent with their two axle motor so they made it two axle instead of three. At least that's my theory.
Any way I'm probably going to end up building my own correct to prototype 8wide version so I'm more interested in the Maersk parts than any thing else. Though we'll probably still have a stock one sitting somewhere on the layout as it's good to be able to point the public to a train they can buy.

I find your lack of train ownership disturbing

Re: Has anybody seen this possible new set??? 10219 Maersk cargo train
Brickshop.nl Has a listing for the train with more pictures. No price yet given.
Re: Has anybody seen this possible new set??? 10219 Maersk cargo train
Sounds like it doesn't come with any electronics, just like the Emerald Night. On the plus side, that might keep the price down.
Re: Has anybody seen this possible new set??? 10219 Maersk cargo train
Wow, that looks like a pretty nice set, and if it doesn't have a motor then that will definitely make it cheaper, as well as allowing it to be easily converted to 9 volt! Nice find mate, and thanks for sharing.

This is going to be a sweet set. Also it looks like they will finally be releasing the new Power Functions train motor and AAA battery box separately.

The battery box and motor are already listed on Brickset with part numbers
Re: Has anybody seen this possible new set??? 10219 Maersk cargo train
Yeah, you can actually get to them through Lego's website if you know the address, but they're not for sale in the States yet, or maybe not at all. Saw it in the Railbricks comments:

Finally up on the website. Couldn't help but notice "removable side panel revealing a detailed, 16-cylinder engine." Apparently, seeing as the set doesn't come with any PF equipment, they filled the space where the battery would go with interior details. Trying to aspire to Cale's level of craziness, no doubt.
