I saw your nice display in the KoP LEGO store, amongst the chaos of screaming children. (I now know not to visit on weekends.)

Greetings to AJ and USABricks. Welcome to the club and the boards.

BrickFair near D.C. may be closer and is now larger than BrickWorld in Chicago, but IMHO BrickWorld is a bit better in the way things are run and presented. Yet both shows are great and well worth the time and travel to attend. I haven't missed either since they began.

Hopefully we'll see one or both of you at a meeting soon. It is a great opportunity to meet other people who live (relatively) close to you who enjoy the same hobby. There is also a good deal of "show & tell" of things people bring. Some are "works in progress" and others are completed. We share contruction techniques and often riff off of each other with ideas for other things to build. So please feel free to bring what ever you have to share with the group at any meeting.

Post  SWLegoLover Tue Jan 25, 2011 4:31 pm

Hi All,
I do hope to start attending monthly meetings shortly. Alas! I shall be visiting a cousin during the February meeting. So perhaps March or April will work out better. Love the positive attitude presented here and will be looking for ideas in making what I have in my head turn out all right with LEGO.

As to how I "found" you all, I was surfing the net looking for Lego stuff and came upon LUGnet so I looked up PA and there you were. It took a little while to get organized enough to actually join, but now here I am.

Thanks,
Nicki

Do you know what time, roughly? This way I can get off from work in time to make my first PennLUG meeting!

Our meetings usually start at 11am, and that's when I plan to start this one.

And the meetings usually last all day. Some of us stay late or at least until we get kicked out. Laughing

It is not unusual for people to bring some refreshments of various sorts. Although I won't be at this coming meeting I usually bring carrots, dip, and soda. Others may bring cheese, chips, beef stick or balogna, sodas, cupcakes, whatever...

It certainly isn't required and nobody keeps track but most people tend to bring something at least some of the time. It all balances out.

I hope you all have a great meeting and I want to hear all about it.

Hi everyone,
I found Penn Lug through Brothers Brick originally. I tried registering but I guess I didn't complete it the first time. When I checked back I had to do it all over again.

I also won't be able to attend the monthly meeting, Feb 5th is my son's first birthday party. I'll try to attend as many meetings as I can but I don't have much free time.
Thanks for the tips on the different LEGO conventions!

Hi, everyone.

My name is John and I lived in Brookhaven, PA, which is a suburb right across from Chester. I have been a LEGO fan from as far back as I can remember. And I have enjoyed the following themes throughout my brief time with LEGO; Technic, Star Wars, BIONICLE, and Town. I also have some interest in LEGO Mindstorms from my time as a programmer on a team for FLL (FIRST LEGO League).

In addition, I have only been involved in one small AFOL thing and that was providing two mosaic pieces for the BIONICLE Mosaics at last year's BrickFair. So yeah, I don't have much experience with AFOL community and I hoping that by joining this group I can change that and improve my building skills with the brick.

Uh...Where it going to take place exactly? Just wondering.

But yeah, if the weather is not bad and it isn't that far of trip for me, I might be able to attend the meeting.

Havertown. Hopefully Chris Edwards who is hosting makes an announcement soon as none of us know his address since he moved into his new house.

My new house is actually in Lansdowne, PA but it's very close to Havertown. I just sent the announcement to Cale and Joel, so it should be in everyone's mailboxes soon!

Introductions - Page 4 Empty Hello all!

Post  Guest Thu Feb 03, 2011 2:49 pm

Hey all, I'm so glad I was able to find this group, as until recently I had believed that Pennsylvania must not have one! A little about me is as follows:

Hey all, I'm Jake Savage and I live up in western PA, probably 40 minutes or an hour from the border with Ohio, my favorite Lego colors to build with are the Dark colors, as well as pearl gold, and any pearl color really. Some of my favorite builds are airplanes, usually fantasy types, and my main inspirations are Hayao Miyazaki, anything dieselpunk, and WWII/the 1930's. I hope I will be able to attend at least one meeting this year, if not the three, as I do not have my own car yet, just having turned 18! Also, I hope to be able to get to know everyone in this community well, and learn a lot to improve my talents with the brick!

Well, that is pretty much all about me for now, so Jake Savage signing out.
